CYMEDSEC

Innovative cybersecurity standards for the future of healthcare
Funded by the European Union, the project brings together experts from the fields of regulation, cybersecurity, technology and clinical practice to develop secure solutions for the Internet of Medical Things (IoMT).

Security and trustworthiness in medical technology and healthcare are of crucial importance. This is not just about protecting data, but also about ensuring the confidentiality, integrity and availability of medical digital services. As an expert in high-security solutions and products in the regulatory environment, secunet is helping to improve the IT security of medical devices and software. This is not only based on existing industry standards, but also actively contributes to the definition of new regulations. In addition, project partners are helped to develop solutions and products based on the "security-by-design" approach that meet the high IT security requirements.

The CYMEDSEC project aims to create new cybersecurity standards and develop solutions for industry and regulatory authorities. The aim is to comprehensively transform the approval process in order to both strengthen cybersecurity and accelerate approval procedures. This holistic approach is based on an analysis of existing directives, standards and guidelines as well as a risk-benefit analysis. New methods and tools are derived to improve cybersecurity. In addition, specific use cases such as remote patient monitoring and critical care scenarios are examined. The overall aim is to promote innovation and facilitate approval through an improved regulatory process in the EU healthcare sector.

"secunet makes an important contribution to the development of methods and solutions for secure medical technology and will support the project partners with its own expertise in the development of security solutions in regulated areas."
